Ketchikan Alaska

So this is our last stop in Alaska. We've been in Alaska since August 14th and we're taking our last ferry trip on Tuesday September 25th to Prince Rupert B.C. That's it for Alaska. I go with mixed feelings. It seems like we waited so long to get here and now it's over. Time just goes by so fast.
Alaska has been so good. The people I met were very friendly. The scenery is amazing. The concerts went well. The people loved the children. God is good!
So next up for exciting things is camp. We go to camp on October 1st and stay for the week. On Saturday October 6th I fly home for vacation!!!!!!!!! It will be a fun time of getting together with family and friends and seeing how I still fit into life in Manitoba:)
Just a crazy side note. When I'm at home I never break my glasses but I've broken them twice on tour. I've worn my old glasses a lot more than my good ones. The first time I broke them when I hit the front of the bus when I just came on tour and the other day I left them on the floor and one of the other aunties stepped on them. So I'm back to not seeing clearly again:( Just so you know:)
Anyway, we are in Ketchikan. It is on an island. We took a 24 hour ferry ride to get here. We got on the ferry at 3:00 AM and got off the next day at 3:30 AM. Just a bit of a disruption in our schedules:) I slept 12 hours last night so I'm beginning to feel more normal again. I'm staying with 3 of our girls at the mayor's house. We are staying upstairs and there is a beautiful view of the ocean from here. Last night when I was going to bed I looked out and saw a HUGE cruise ship just pulling out of the harbour. All of the alaskan islands that we have been on are big tourist places with thousands of tourists coming in on the ships every day.(maybe not Haines. I don't remember seeing them there.) The mayor said that Ketchikan has 800,000 tourists come in one season. That's alot considering only 14,000 people live on the whole island.
I hope all of you are doing well. To my friends and family at home, see you when I get there:)
Love you all,
Barb

God is Good!!

I just want to say that God is good!!
Romans 8:28 "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
I have been amazed at how God can work even when we are making mistakes. When things seem hard and we're not sure how to go on, God is there working things out for good.
We have had some hard days on tour recently but God is there, teaching us, loving us and showing us the way to go. I thank Him for that.
That's all for now.
God Bless
